This simple to use, GPS-enabled App is designed by the Partnership and covers the 6 main paths to the summit of Yr Wyddfa with detailed route maps that track the users progress as they ascend. It works offline, meaning no internet or phone signal is required when using the App on the mountain.

Each map also includes contour information so users can look out for hazardous sections as they climb. This App will also help users plan ahead before visiting, and includes important advice which will allow them to help us respect, care, and protect this incredible mountain, the surrounding environment and local communities.

Yr Wyddfa Litter Project

Creating plastic free zones is one of the actions in the National Park’s partnership management plan – Cynllun Eryi, which goes hand in hand with Partneriaeth Yr Wyddfa’s priority to tackle the litter issue in the area. Therefore, early discussions are underway with numerous agencies on the possibilities in the Yr Wyddfa area. One of the many challenges is the lack of running drinking water where visitors can refill their own reusable bottles. To this end, we have held a number of discussions with the Welsh Government, Dŵr Cymru, Gwynedd Council and others to asses what’s achievable.

Another element of the work is the analysis and research into the behaviour of littering and we’re extremely happy to be working with the Wales Centre for Behavioural Change at Bangor University on this. With their expertise, we hope to gain behavioural insights and to build our messaging around what is learnt.

This work will build on the brilliant work achieved already by Snowdonia Society as part of Cynllun Yr Wyddfa.
